No-host social at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required for an optional dinner at 6 p.m. Info and to RSVP: 349-2708. 03/22/08 On Saturday, March 22, 2008, Ojai Democratic Club hosted a forum The Ojai Center for the Arts. “How can anybody not run in this atmosphere when our representatives vote against everything important in this country?” said Martinez, setting the tone for the event. Martinez spoke to the crowd and responded to questions ranging from why she is running, to the economy, healthcare, and Iraq. 04/17/2008
Local Candidates spoke at the Lompoc Democratic Club, where public attended a forum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, 04/17/2008, at the Lompoc Library's Grossman Gallery, 501 E. North Ave., reagrding the the 2008 election. Candidates addressed local, state and national issues, and answered questions. In attendence were Jill Martinez, 24th U.S. Congressional District; Mary Pallant, 24th U.S. Congressional District; Marta Jorgensen, 24th U.S. Congressional District; Robert Cuthbert, 33rd State Assembly District, John Sterling, 4th District Supervisor and Doreen Farr, 3rd District Supervisor. David Eccles said that he felt it went really well, and there were about 60 people in attendance. He further stated that it actually went a little overtime. Sounds like Lompoc has an active and productive Democratic Club. Kudos. 04/18/2008 Parents, teachers, and students from Ventura County will get together Friday, 04/18/2008, at 4 p.m., A Rally for Our Children - at Buena High School, 5670 Telegraph Road, Ventura CA, to discuss budget cuts that would cripple the Ventura Unified School District. Join Save Our Schools, Jill Martinez, and the many other attendees, to learn about the proposed 4.8 billion cuts to schools. Speakers planned include but are not limited to: State Assembly Pedro Nava, State Senate Candidate Hannah-Beth Jackson, Ventura County Superintendant of Schools Chuck Weis and more.
